(no subject)

Yep, it's April First.

I'm not dropping out of Engineering. I'm not moving to Montana. I'm not joining a cult. I did meet a girl named Lara (hey there, tangyzip) but she's not in a cult and most definitely not anti-technology. She demanded, as a condition of participating in my April Fools joke, that I clear her name afterwards.

I'll try to come up with something better next year. If you happen to be on a campus with an Engineering program there's a good possibility of pranks on campus since it's Kipling today. Check them out, they're usually decent.

Turn and face the strain...

I've been doing some heavy thinking lately. The life-changing kind of thinking. Meeting Lara has been really good for me. I've been talking to her a lot, especially about technology and the state of the world.

This might seem sudden but I assure you it's something I've been thinking about for weeks now. Lara has been telling me about this group she's part of called 'Children of the Light'. There's 4 01 of them. They live on a communal farm in Montana and grow their own food. There are no computers. There's no electricity. No telephones. No plows. Everything is done by hand. I've told most of you that sometimes humanity makes me want to be a hermit and live in a hut somewhere. I never thought I would actually do it.

Gardening was a real eye-opener for me - it turns out I really love to work with my hands and the satisfaction of growing real, edible food was incomparable to anything I've done before, even the satisfaction of writing a program and having it work the first time. I'm sure I'll miss the computer at first but I also missed seeing movies when I started my boycott of the movie industry. It passes, like the Days and Months.

Tomorrow at noon I'll be coming online to say my goodbyes and then I'll be turning off my computers forever. I'm dropping out of Engineering. I'm moving to Montana to be with Lara and live off the land. I'll be gone by the end of the week. If I don't see you online tomorrow, please don't forget that I love you all.

Best wishes for a wonderful life. I know I've found mine.

What the hell is wrong with the US media? Do people in the United States actually believe this bullshit (Quicktime)?

Slashdot Editors: Grow up!

It's that time of year again.

For the next two days, slashdot is going to be full of useless crap stories.

One joke would be funny, guys.

This is my empty journal...

Yes, my journal is empty. And it's quite likely to stay that way. The only reason I have a Livejournal account is so I can read my friends' private entries. It's hard to be on a friends list if you don't have an account.
